Bass & Breaks in Vancouver: Every October and November Date Worth Knowing
Bass and breaks doesn’t get the same column inches as house and techno in this city, but the calendar right now says otherwise. There’s a real run of dates stacking up from late October through December, and it’s worth having them all in one place.
The quick version: seven confirmed bass and breaks events are on the books between October 23 and December 11, mostly at The Pearl, with stops at Village Studios and a few still-unannounced locations. Prices range from around $20 to $34, most are 19+, and a couple are still waiting on a venue to be locked in.
Late October: two nights at The Pearl
The run kicks off with Rage-O-Ween at The Pearl on Friday, October 23 at 10:30 PM. Tickets start at $23.26. It’s filed under Bass & Breaks, which tracks for a Halloween-weekend lineup built for a room that leans into low end.
Six days later, Lizdek with Synova lands at the same venue on Thursday, October 29 at 7 PM. This one spans Bass & Breaks and Electronic & Experimental, which suggests a set that won’t sit still in one lane. It’s a DJ night, 19+, from $22.23.
Two early November dates without a home yet
Not every listing comes with a venue attached, and that’s worth flagging rather than guessing around.
- shmani Album Release Party. Friday, November 6 at 9 PM, location TBA, Bass & Breaks and Electronic & Experimental, 19+, price unconfirmed. Event page.
- VANTEK: DJ SWISHA. Friday, November 13 at 11 PM, location TBA, House and Bass & Breaks, 19+, from $20. Event page.
Check the event pages closer to the date for venue confirmation before you make plans around either one.
A busy Friday: two bass nights, same night, different rooms
Friday, November 20 is stacked. Stacked pres. Dennett plays Village Studios at 10 PM, Bass & Breaks, 19+, from $34. At the same time, Saliah in Vancouver is on at The Pearl at 10:30 PM, from $19.99.
That’s two separate rooms running bass programming on the same night, which tells you the demand is there. If you’re choosing between them, Village Studios skews pricier, The Pearl is the more budget-friendly option.
December: the b2b to watch, if it finds a room
The furthest-out date on the sheet is DOLLY presents… Diodore b2b dj_2button with Xiumei & Matthew Situ (Live) on Friday, December 11 at 11 PM. Location is still TBA. It’s a DJ night, 19+, from $20, and the lineup structure (a back to back plus a live set folded into the same bill) is the most unusual booking on this whole list.
What this run tells you about the scene right now
Bass and breaks in Vancouver isn’t clustered in one room this season. The Pearl is carrying the most listed dates, but Village Studios and at least two unconfirmed rooms are also in the mix. That spread is a decent sign: promoters are finding space for the sound across more of the city rather than parking it in one venue.
Two rooms, two bass nights, one Friday — that’s not a coincidence, that’s a sound finding its footing.
