The Pearl: The Room and What's Coming Up
Most venues tell you what they are by what they book. The Pearl tells you by refusing to settle on one answer.
The quick version: The Pearl is running a stretch of dates that covers rock, bass and breaks, house, techno, soul and global sounds, often within the same week. That range is the story here more than any single genre. Below is everything on the calendar right now, in order, with what each one tells you about the room.
A room that doesn’t pick a lane
Some venues are built around one scene and you learn their crowd before you learn their sound system. The Pearl isn’t that. In the space of a few weeks it goes from a post-punk band with a cult following, to a late-night bass and breaks DJ set, to a guitar band known for chaos, to a straight-up house rave. That’s not indecision. It’s a room built to flex, with a booking team that treats genre as a detail rather than a identity.
Late October: guitars first
The run starts with two heavier nights back to back. Protomartyr with Accessory lands on Wed Oct 28 at 8 PM, filed under rock & alternative. Three nights later, Gilla Band with Piss takes the same slot on Sat Oct 31 at 7 PM, also rock & alternative. Between them sits something entirely different.
The DJ night in the middle
On Thu Oct 29 at 7 PM, Lizdek with Synova brings bass & breaks and electronic & experimental into the room. It’s 19+, which is worth flagging if you’re planning around the gig nights on either side. This is the clearest example of The Pearl’s split personality in one calendar week: two guitar bands bookending a DJ set.
Into November: house, jazz, and a festival crossover
November opens up the range further.
- House Party Rave. Sat Nov 7, 10 PM. House and rock & alternative on one bill, event page here.
- Ahmed Moneka with Mirager. Sun Nov 8, 8 PM. Soul, jazz & R&B meets global sounds, details here.
- Taste of Iceland presents: Iceland Airwaves Off venue. Wed Nov 11, 8 PM. Techno and electronic & experimental, tied to the Iceland Airwaves festival circuit, listing here.
- Eivør w/ Midori Jaeger. Tue Nov 17, 9 PM. Electronic & experimental, event page here.
- Saliah in Vancouver. Fri Nov 20, 10:30 PM. Bass & breaks, a late start that signals a proper dance night, details here.
That’s five nights in under two weeks, spread across five different tags. No other room in this guide moves that fast between sounds.
December: the calendar settles into dance and bands again
December keeps the same pattern of alternating lanes rather than committing to one.
- Obsession II — Two Years of Desire. Sat Dec 5, 11 PM. A house night with a late start, the kind built for people who arrive after midnight, event page here.
- Yaima. Thu Dec 10, 7:30 PM. Electronic & experimental crossed with global sounds, listing here.
- Missio with Special Guests. Sat Dec 12, 8 PM. Back to rock & alternative, details here.
Looking well ahead
The calendar isn’t only built out a few weeks at a time. Rayland Baxter: The True Violet Tour is already booked for Tue Mar 9 at 8 PM, rock & alternative. A tour date locked in that far out tells you The Pearl is treated as a reliable stop on the national circuit, not just a local room filling gaps.
The booking pattern is the pitch: if you only go for one genre, you’re only seeing half of what the room does.
Who this room is actually for
If you only track one scene, The Pearl will feel inconsistent on paper. But look at the stretch as a whole and it reads as a room that trusts its audience to move between a touring rock band one night and a house rave the next. That’s a useful thing to know before you buy a ticket based on venue name alone. Check the genre tag on each listing, not just the room, and you’ll know what you’re walking into.
